FAA Order 8130.34D — UAS Operating Limitation A-37

Appendix A · p. A-8

If any aircraft, engine, or propeller operating limits are exceeded during ground or inflight operations, the exceeded operating limit will be addressed to ensure the aircraft is in a continued condition for safe operation. An appropriate maintenance entry will be made in the aircraft records describing the maintenance and/or inspection actions taken to address the exceeded operating limit and that the aircraft is determined to be in a condition for safe operation, prior to further flight.

🧭 Guidance & sample wording

What to do when an operating limit is exceeded

Any exceeded aircraft, engine, or propeller operating limit must be addressed before further flight. An “appropriate maintenance entry” is one that describes the inspection/maintenance actions taken and states the aircraft was determined to be in a condition for safe operation.

Sample maintenance-record entry (template)

[Date] — UAS TIS [____]. [Engine / propeller / airframe] operating limit [name & value] was exceeded during [ground / in-flight] operation on [date]. Actions taken: [inspection / maintenance performed]. Determined the aircraft is in a condition for safe operation prior to further flight. — [Name], [title / certificate].
Preparation support, not an FAA determination. The determination and record entry are made by the operator or authorized person; the FAA prescribes the final limitations on the FAA Form 8130-7.
